The USB socket must be able to supply 12vdc to operate the LED ring light. Most USB 2.0 and higher will supply the 12v needed, so it's not a problem if you're keeping the USB plug as supplied. My intention was to eliminate the USB plug and direct wire to a 5v circuit, but upon testing 12v was needed.
