Had looked at this at a local lighting store for $40 more than here. This was a great price. I ended up using it as a table lamp instead of a wall lamp, and here's why: I wanted to use this to mount to the wall between my bed and my easy chair. I needed a good reading light at both spots and the swing arm was the answer. But once I unpackaged it and started trying to figure out the best mounting configuration, I realized a flaw (at least for me). I needed to angle the light FORWARD so it threw the light over my shoulder area. Problem is that the light will only rotate INWARD due to the placement of one of the joints (the one where the stick is hanging down in the picture). The fixed mount of the light makes it such that you can't pivot it in a clockwise fashion either (i.e. you can't shine the light upward). So if I wanted to adjust the light, it would throw light against the wall rather than my book. So I was pretty frustrated at first. Then I decided to see how it would do just sitting on the table. And viola the light suddenly could be aimed just right for reading. The base is a little light, and I'm going to the shop and make some type of mounting base. Haven't figured that out yet. But will mainly be a matter of cutting some wood. With that configuration, I've got some pluses. I now have portability, as opposed to a wall mount where it was fixed. Aiming is spot on. The button on the light glows when off, which makes it easy to find in a dark room. The dimmer control is perfect, in that now I have a reading light, but also a dim light to leave on which lights the side of the bed and accents the room.I just put in an order for a second one for the other side of the bed. In summary, look closely at the configuration. But my work around ended up being perfect.
