I had two new bedside lamps that are tall with a typica turn off switch, which required getting half way out of bed just to turn off lamp. Now the chain hangs down long enough to reach over and turn off. The hardest part was removing the original socket from the lamp. The DIY videos show the socket easily twisting off if you hold the nut on the stem tight...the nut on my lamp was so narrow, it was almost impossible to keep it tight. I had to use needlenose pliers to clamp down on nut, while husband turned socket using channellock pliers...it was like the socket was cemented on! Placing the new socket on was not that difficult in comparison. You may need to slice the lamp wiring to expose a little more wire to wrap around new socket screws, so make sure you have your few tools available...it is never as easy as the videos show, but overall worth the effort. The sockets are shiny chrome color, seem well made, and heavier tha what I removed. Overall pleased with purchase. Wish the chain was about an inch longer, but not a deal breaker.Replaced a broken socket in an antique fixture. {Parts of these are thick and heavy duty while other parts are really cheaply made, especially the inside parts (mostly made of cardboard/paper). I had to modify it a bit to get it to fit, but it works well now. Be careful about pulling too hard on he chain. Glad I got a set of two because I destroyed the first on trying to make it fit. You are not paying a lot for these, do not expect too much.I just love lamps with a pull chain. So I got these to put on my new bedroom lamps. These are very easy to install. Just watch the video and it will show you how it’s done. It's been a very long time since I've been impressed with the quality of a smallass produced part such as this. I think most of us have become comfortable with the cheap knock-off junk coming from over seas. This is NOT that. Excellent quality, but you have to pay to play. You wont be sorry.Especially good-looking for vintage lamps. Works fine. The weighted ball chains give it a finished feel with every use.Had an antique lamp that needed a new pullchain socket and these are perfectAttractive sockets. We've already changed one, works fine. They are perfect, well made and matches exactly as stated
