Description

Reptiles and amphibians need both UVB and UVA light to live healthy lifestyles. These are both types of ultraviolet (and UV) light. Each type of light has a different role to play in keeping your pet happy and healthy. The UV spectrum is broken up into three parts: UVA, UVB and UVC. All three of these types of light are found in natural sunlight. UVA light helps regulate behaviors such as feeding, diurnal movement, mating and similar activities. UVB light allows the synthesis of vitamin D3, which helps to absorb calcium. UVC light is not required for reptiles. It's important to note that at high levels of exposure this light can be harmful to most animals. LED emits a little visible light that make it could be placed overhead or the side of your reptiles. CFL have a "burn in" period when the light and UVB output is the greatest. This period lasts about two weeks. LED has the greatest output when turned on, no exist "burn in" period! CFL provide UVB for a period of 1 year. After 1 year, CFL should be replaced with a new one. LED lasts 2 to 4 times longer than a CFL. Running 30000 hours (about 3 years), LED UVB decay is -30%. CFL need a aluminum reflector to increases the distance that UVB will penetrate in your terrarium. LED has build-in optical lens to penetrate UVB. So the reflector is not necessary. I purchased this light looking for a low watt/ low heat light and this one is great! Bleuer than I thought but honestly my gecko loves it, so absolutely no complaints.I want stronger UV radiation for my reptile. where is the juice? The light is a blue color, not a natural light. I don’t feel any heat at all. This light is not particularly warm or bright but it is perfect for my crested gecko. It raises the tank temperature by only a degree or two which is ideal for our pet. The brightness isn't relevant for me either because we keep our tank in an area that receives daylight.Aside from the function of the light, it is made of high quality materials and looks really nice in my fixture, it does give the tank a neat glow but isn't visible when other light sources are present.Just installed the lamp in a dog house sizeDwelling for a Tortoise. While adding metallic insulation to the top of the room it brushed across the face of the lamp.Large arcs and sparks popped and crackled there is nothing insulating high voltagesurface mount components on this lamp ! It’s not low voltage which could zap the heck out of anyone tho does not know. There should be a clear plastic lens protecting users. Be aware !!So far great doesn't put off a lot of heat really good on my low light side and my lizard seems love itI use this bulb to get my turtle her UV rays; it's nice and easy to use, doesn't emit heat, and it's easy to tell when it's onThis was an easy setup, works in a dome-type reptile lamp attached to a mechanical timer. If it lasts for 3 years I'll be very happy with it and keep the 5 star review.Works as stated. Not as bright as the old cfl so the turtles seem to like it better. Everything looks good.
