The gooseneck adjustment will not let me put the light and magnifier in the place I position it in to read. I might as well just use my hand held lighted magnifier to read. Very disappointed in this product.Too late to return to Amazon prime.I bought the original version of this lamp in 2017 and used it extensively in my craft room mostly for jewelry making. In 2018, I bought one for my son for use in his workshop. This year, we moved to a new house and we needed a third one. Most of this review is about the newest lamp -- their three-in-one that can be used as a table, floor, or desk lamp.1. Quality: all three of the lamps get moderate use (5-20 hrs/week). One occasionally migrates to a dusty workshop; the rest are used in standard interior rooms. All still look like new and are holding up very well -- no loose components, no repairs, no failures.2. Light arrangement and magnifying element. I use the magnifying element several hours at a time for very fine jewelry and beading work and am in my late 60s. It is wonderful! The element is large enough to give me a good field of view so that I can see the beads and components and I can move around a bit which really helps with fatigue. The light falls so that there are very few shadows -- I have simply never had a better light-magnifier combo and love it. My son is an electrical engineer at a start-up and uses it when constructing trial circuits and prototypes and has the same observations.3. On-off switch. In the newest unit the on-off switch is on the rim of the magnifier and includes three settings: off, dim, and bright. Great placement. Very easy to turn on, make brighter, and turn off (to extend the life of the LEDs and save a bit of power).4. Dim vs bright. I use both settings, but my son only uses bright. For me, I have large windows in my craft room and only need the dim setting for a bit of extra task lighting during sunny days, but at night and on those rainy, dark days in Seattle, I really appreciate the bright setting.5. Three-in-one. The three-in-one option is only slightly more expensive and may be worth it to you. In my new house, I was unsure of the final arrangement (is any arrangement ever final?) and chose the options. I am using the desk lamp with the base (not the clamp on). It was very easy to but together, even by a older woman -- did not even have to get the tool box out. The cord connection to the unit is brilliant as it comes out above the extension with the small wiring typical for low voltage LED. No twisted cords in the column for this unit. The base is heavy and stable and allows me to constantly adjust the height and angle of the lamp -- sometime as a regular desk lamp, sometimes as a magnifier, sometimes as a lamp for a shared workspace.6. Looks. Finally, it is simply a nice looking lamp. We own two white ones and one in black. They are attractive enough that the rooms/desks (when clean) look ready for company.I would definitely buy again and give as gifts.I've the table top one for years already as I use dit for my jewelry making. I wa sloking for the same, style but larger and standing. Found all of it in this one and more.This works great for my wife’s sewing room!!I was so hopeful that i finally found a decent crafting lamp. Wrong. As usual im disappointed yet again by Amazon.Lets start with the good. White bright light. I bought this because i was having a hard time seeing dark color yarn while knitting. This lamp is BRIGHT. Our other lamps have yellow light. Its well made and good quality. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS LAMP IN A CHILD’S ROOM OR A NURSERY!!!!! As you can see in the photos i had to weight the base down with an Ikea cube full of yarn. I feel you should just be able to use something and not have to make a ton of adjustments just so the lamp doesn't hit you in the head while working.The Bad. Its HEAVY. My husband has to move it for me. It can be top heavy if you bend the magnifier to low. It took both of us to put it together but it was easy to do so.Is it worth the money? Yes. I would not recommend using this as a table lamp since the base is so heavy. This lamp is great because of the white light and the large magnifiers. What isnt great is how the gooseneck falls down and spill anything in its path. The design is just baffling. Why would you make a lamp with a base that is not balanced? Ive used this maybe 3 times because its just too inconvenient to lug over to my area where i knit. IThe unit is great and throws the light I need, however we’re the foot stand meets the rest of the unit doesn’t seem to fasten and make the floor option NOT really possible (especially if you need to move it around) I guess I’m fastening to the table while I figure a way to fix. BAD JOB on the designers end.Easy to assemble and bright! Great magnification with a large enough view window to handle the bulk of my projects. However, much like my last bad ex boyfriend it won’t stay erect anymore. I only craft infrequently at most. I can’t claim that this defect is from overuse. I think as it ages the flexible neck just can’t hold up the weight of the magnifier and lamp like it used to. Anyone have a crafters viagra? Has become almost useless at this point and can only use it for a very few tasks. Bummer.What I like about this is it’s sturdy! It has a very heavy base and the magnifying lens is glass. It’s got a bright light so you can use it just to read by or you could use the magnifying glass to read your prescriptions. I bought this for dad but mom loves it as well.Sturdy well made lamp. 2-setting light. The box it was shipped in was pretty well destroyed because of the weight of the product, yet the internal box and foam were all intact, so it arrived safely.There is no cover to keep dust off the lens when not in use, also it does not bend as easily as it says without falling over. was tempted to send back but thought it to not be worth the effort I willcover with a cloth when not in usePerfect product. Excellent magnifying, and easy touch brightness adjuster (no knobs or buttons to adjust brightness level). Spins in place so the heavy base needs to be turned over once a month or so for the bottom screw to be tightened.
